We are always appealing for anybody interested in helping to run the Society to step forward. For the Society to flourish we really do need new people with new ideas and some spare time to help, perhaps as programme secretary arranging speakers for our meetings programme, or as a membership secretary to collect subscriptions.

Become a Member

Being a member of the Civic Society is not only a great way to get involved in projects in the town and meet like-minded people, but your support helps us achieve many projects to make our town a better place to live, visit and work.

There are four types of membership – under 65 £10, over 65 £8, student £1 and business affiliate £20.

Benefits include:

  • Free entry to our monthly meetings
  • Invitation to our Christmas social with complimentary refreshments and entertainment
  • Newsletters on society projects and events information
  • The satisfaction of knowing your contribution is making a difference to our town!

Membership Subscriptions

 Payment by cheque or cash to Sue at 125, Park Crescent, NP7 5TN or to our Treasurer Ian Vicary at 17, Lansdown Drive, NP7 6AW (cheques payable to Abergavenny Civic Society).

Please include your full name as a reference and, if possible, let us know the transfer is coming to us.

You can also pay by standing order which helps the Society to keep down its administrative costs and the task of collecting subscriptions each year.

Join the 100 Club

This is a win-win situation – a chance to win cash prizes as well as supporting our town at the same time!

Our 100 Club raises vital funds to help us carry out our motto – preserving the best Abergavenny has to offer and improving the rest!

The cost is £24 per year, that’s just £2 per month, and payment methods are the same as for membership shown above, except cheques or cash to Ian Vicary at 17 Lansdown Drive, NP7 6AW.  Please download a copy of the rules which show other payment methods, the cost if you join part-way through the year, and the prizes for each of the four draws.
