Please explore this website to find out all about us, our latest projects and themed monthly meetings.

We are appealing for anybody interested in helping to run the Society to step forward. For the Society to flourish we really do need new people who may be interested in helping with any of the following: programme secretary to help plan meetings and organise speakers (with input from other executive committee members), and a membership secretary to collect subs. If you are interested in taking a more active role in the Society, in whatever capacity, please contact Sue on 01873 858912 or Dick Cole, our Vice Chair, on 01291 673617.

You can still buy our popular publication “Take a look at Abergavenny and Mardy”!

This fascinating 70-page paperback-sized priced at just £5.00 introduces the reader to the story of how Abergavenny grew from a town of just 2,500 in 1801 through to the modern day, detailing 200 years of changes.

Find out more about the book and where you can buy it here.

Please also take a look at Dick Cole’s illustrated Story of Social Housing, a review that occupied his recent pandemic lockdown.  The review, which has an architectural bias, has examples from all over Britain, with some from Abergavenny and elsewhere in Gwent.  This is only available online.

We hope you enjoy this site but if you have any questions or suggestions of what we can add, please contact us by emailing abercivsoc@gmail.com.
